Panasonic TH-PX80U Series

By Plasma LCD on August 27th, 2008

The Panasonic TH-PX80U series is included in the five plasma HDTV series that will be released by Panasonic this year. You can choose between the 42-inch TH-42PX80U which costs $1,199 and the 50-inch TH-50PX80U which costs $1,699.

These two models are the entry-level models of this series. And while they do not carry the 1080 pixel resolution these models are a sure hit since they are $400 to $800 cheaper than the 1080 pixel models. These models have a 15,000:1 contrast ratio and a 720 pixel native resolution.

The Panasonic TH-PX80U series all have anti-reflective screens instead of anti-glare screens. You can expect reduced screen reflections and shadows and better color fidelity. The series is also noted for their full brightness at 100,000 hours before they fade to half-brightness. The screens are also known for being “Wiimote-proof which means it is resistant to shock as evident when a steel ball was repeatedly bounded on the panel during a demonstration.

Connectivity is great with three HDMI inputs and an SD card which allows you to view photos and other images. There is also a Game Mode which will be a delight to gamers especially with the minimal lag time between the on-screen action and the controller.
